The Yellow Fever vaccine protects against yellow fever. The Aqua protocol is one Stamaril injection, given at least 10 days before entering a Yellow Fever risk zone, delivered by injection into the upper arm. Full protection lasts lifelong protection for most people after a single dose.

The Aqua protocol

Every appointment starts with a short pharmacist-led review of your itinerary, medical history and current medication. If the vaccine is right for you we give one Stamaril injection, given at least 10 days before entering a Yellow Fever risk zone in-clinic, at 59 Mill Lane, one minute from West Hampstead station.

Aqua is a NaTHNaC-designated Yellow Fever centre. We issue the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) in-clinic. The certificate is valid for life for most travellers.

Side effects and contraindications

A sore arm, mild headache or low-grade fever for a few days are the usual effects. Severe reactions are rare and are reviewed in the pre-jab risk assessment.

Not given to anyone with severe immune suppression, a history of thymus disease, severe allergy to egg, or during pregnancy without specialist review. Aqua screens every traveller before the jab. Stamaril is licensed from 9 months old. Special caution applies to babies and to travellers aged 60 or over.
