Hungary is a popular short-break destination for UK travellers: Budapest thermal baths and ruin bars, Lake Balaton summer holidays, the Puszta plains, and wine tours around Eger and Tokaj. It is also a country where Tick-borne Encephalitis (TBE) is endemic, with risk across most of Trans-Danubia, the northern uplands and forested areas around Lake Balaton.
NaTHNaC recommends Tick-borne Encephalitis for anyone hiking, camping, cycling or spending time in forested rural areas between April and November. Hepatitis A is also recommended for most travellers, and routine Tetanus, Diphtheria and Polio boosters should be up to date.
Aqua Travel Clinic in West Hampstead stocks the TBE vaccine and can usually fit you in same-week. The clinic is operated by Aqua Pharmacy (GPhC-registered premises 1123406, owned by Naspram Pharma Limited) under Superintendent Pharmacist Sanjay Mukundkumar Patel (GPhC 2045157). We can vaccinate, advise on tick bite avoidance, and give you a written checklist in a single appointment.
