Travelling to Morocco? Here is what you need.
Morocco is a major UK short-haul destination - Marrakesh, Fez, Chefchaouen, Essaouira and Atlas Mountain treks. Vaccine needs are moderate; Hepatitis A, Typhoid and Rabies (for street-dog exposure) are the main considerations.
NaTHNaC recommends Hepatitis A, Tetanus and Typhoid for most travellers to Morocco, with Hepatitis B, Rabies and Tuberculosis recommended for some travellers depending on itinerary. A Polio certificate can be required for stays over four weeks in a polio-transmission area.

Hepatitis A + Typhoid
Standard for food/water hygiene. Available as separate vaccines or combined Viatim in one injection. Hep A covers 12 months from one dose (25 years with booster); Typhoid protects around 3 years.
Rabies (where indicated)
Recommended for rural stays, long trips, cyclists, backpackers, children, VFR travel and anyone likely to have close animal contact. Three-dose pre-exposure schedule on days 0, 7 and 21-28 (UK Green Book). Pharmacies cannot administer post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) - if bitten or scratched abroad, wash the wound thoroughly and go straight to A&E, NHS 111 or a local hospital.
Tetanus / Diphtheria / Polio (Td/IPV) booster
A 10-year booster is standard for travel. Also covers the Polio certificate requirement where relevant.
Hepatitis B
Three-dose course (0, 1, 6 months); for long stays, medical/dental work, tattoos or new partners abroad.

Standard for all Morocco travel. Available as Viatim (combined, one injection) or as separate vaccines. Hepatitis A protects for around 12 months from one dose and around 25 years with a booster. Typhoid protects for around 3 years.

NaTHNaC recommends pre-exposure rabies vaccination for some travellers to Morocco - particularly rural trips, longer stays, backpackers, cyclists, children, VFR travellers and anyone likely to have close animal contact. Tuberculosis (BCG)
Considered for long-stay work in healthcare, community immersion and family travel with young children in higher-risk regions of Morocco. Reviewed at consultation.
