Panama covers a lot of ground in a small country: Panama City for business and the Canal, San Blas (Guna Yala) for postcard Caribbean islands, Bocas del Toro for surf and dive, Boquete for coffee and hiking, and the Darien for remote rainforest. Travel health needs vary significantly depending on where you go.
Yellow Fever is a real consideration. Panama has YF risk in areas east of the Canal Zone, including San Blas, Darien and parts of the Caribbean coast. The vaccine is strongly recommended for these areas and is required for onward travel to many countries. West of the Canal (Panama City for short stays, the western highlands, the Pacific beaches) the YF risk is much lower.
NaTHNaC also recommends Hepatitis A and Typhoid for most travellers, with Rabies for jungle travel, longer stays or anyone working with animals. Malaria risk is present in eastern provinces including Darien and parts of the Caribbean coast, so a prescription antimalarial may be needed.
Aqua Travel Clinic in West Hampstead is a NaTHNaC designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre. The clinic is operated by Aqua Pharmacy (GPhC registered premises 1123406, owned by Naspram Pharma Limited) under Superintendent Pharmacist Sanjay Mukundkumar Patel (GPhC 2045157). We can vaccinate, prescribe and sign your ICVP in a single appointment.
