Haiti travel is dominated by humanitarian work, faith trips and diaspora returns. Yellow Fever certification is required if arriving from a risk country, malaria is endemic and cholera outbreaks have occurred.
NaTHNaC recommends Hepatitis A, Tetanus and Typhoid for most travellers to Haiti, with Cholera, Hepatitis B, Rabies and Tuberculosis recommended for some travellers depending on itinerary.

Hepatitis A + Typhoid
Standard for food/water hygiene. Available as separate vaccines or combined Viatim in one injection. Hep A covers 12 months from one dose (25 years with booster); Typhoid protects around 3 years.
Rabies (where indicated)
Recommended for rural stays, long trips, cyclists, backpackers, children, VFR travel and anyone likely to have close animal contact. Three-dose pre-exposure schedule on days 0, 7 and 21-28 (UK Green Book). Pharmacies cannot administer post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) - if bitten or scratched abroad, wash the wound thoroughly and go straight to A&E, NHS 111 or a local hospital.
Tetanus / Diphtheria / Polio (Td/IPV) booster
A 10-year booster is standard for travel and takes 60 seconds in the same appointment.
Malaria prescription
Malaria is endemic. The pharmacist reviews your itinerary and prescribes atovaquone/proguanil, doxycycline or mefloquine in the same appointment. Bite avoidance advice (DEET, nets, clothing) included.

Hepatitis A and Typhoid
Standard for all Haiti travel. Available as Viatim (combined, one injection) or as separate vaccines. Hepatitis A protects for around 12 months from one dose and around 25 years with a booster. Typhoid protects for around 3 years.
Rabies
NaTHNaC recommends pre-exposure rabies vaccination for some travellers to Haiti - particularly rural trips, longer stays, backpackers, cyclists, children, VFR travellers and anyone likely to have close animal contact. Hepatitis B
Three-dose course (0, 1, 6 months) recommended for longer stays, medical or dental procedures, tattoos, piercings and new sexual partners abroad. An accelerated schedule is available for shorter lead times.
Cholera (Dukoral)
An oral two-dose vaccine considered for prolonged rural, humanitarian or outbreak-area travel. It also provides useful cover against some travellers' diarrhoea.
Tuberculosis (BCG)
Considered for long-stay work in healthcare, community immersion and family travel with young children in higher-risk regions of Haiti. Reviewed at consultation.
Malaria
Malaria is present throughout Haiti. The pharmacist reviews your itinerary and prescribes atovaquone/proguanil, doxycycline or mefloquine in the same appointment. Bite avoidance (DEET at least 30 percent, long sleeves at dawn and dusk, treated nets) is the essential daily defence.
