Iraq is travelled for pilgrimage to Najaf and Karbala, business to Baghdad and Basra, and tourism in the Kurdistan region around Erbil. Vaccine needs are real: NaTHNaC recommends Hepatitis A and Typhoid for most travellers (food and water risk is significant), Hepatitis B for longer trips or healthcare contact, a Polio booster (Iraq has historically been classed as polio-affected and NaTHNaC may recommend a single adult booster of polio-containing vaccine), and Rabies for rural travel, longer trips or anyone planning to be more than 24 hours from medical care. Tetanus and Diphtheria cover should also be current.
Aqua Travel Clinic in West Hampstead is operated by Aqua Pharmacy (GPhC-registered premises 1123406, owned by Naspram Pharma Limited) under Superintendent Pharmacist Sanjay Mukundkumar Patel (GPhC 2045157). We can review your itinerary, give Hep A, Typhoid, Hep B, a Polio booster (delivered as Tetanus, Diphtheria, Polio) and Rabies as needed, and provide written advice on food, water, bite avoidance, heat and personal safety. Please also check current FCDO travel advice before booking your trip, as Foreign Office guidance for parts of Iraq can change at short notice.

Travel vaccines for Iraq at a glance
Iraq is a higher travel-vaccine risk country. NaTHNaC recommends Hepatitis A and Typhoid for most travellers, Hepatitis B for longer trips or healthcare contact, a Polio booster (given as Tetanus, Diphtheria, Polio) for travel to polio-affected countries, and Rabies for rural travel or long stays.
Hepatitis A and Typhoid
Standard for Iraq. Hep A protects for around 12 months from a single dose, 25 years with a booster. Typhoid protects for around 3 years.
Hepatitis B
Considered for longer trips, healthcare contact, or anyone likely to receive medical or dental treatment in Iraq.
Polio booster
NaTHNaC has historically recommended a single adult booster of polio-containing vaccine (given as Tetanus, Diphtheria, Polio combined) for travellers to Iraq. We will confirm current guidance at your consultation.
Rabies
