Jordan is a bucket list trip for many UK travellers: Petra at sunrise, sleeping under the stars in Wadi Rum, floating in the Dead Sea, and exploring Amman and Jerash. Most itineraries are 7 to 10 days and combine cities, desert and historic sites, often with onward travel to Egypt or Israel.
NaTHNaC recommends Hepatitis A and Typhoid for most Jordan travel, with Hepatitis B for longer stays, anyone considering tattoos or piercings, or healthcare workers. Jordan is malaria free, so no antimalarials are needed. Water safety, food hygiene and sun protection are the main practical issues, particularly in summer when desert temperatures soar.
Aqua Travel Clinic in West Hampstead is operated by Aqua Pharmacy (GPhC-registered premises 1123406, owned by Naspram Pharma Limited) under Superintendent Pharmacist Sanjay Mukundkumar Patel (GPhC 2045157). Most Jordan travellers are sorted in one short appointment, often using the combined Hep A and Typhoid vaccine Viatim to keep it to a single injection.

Travel vaccines for Jordan at a glance
Jordan is low risk for serious tropical illness but NaTHNaC recommends Hepatitis A and Typhoid for most travellers, with Hepatitis B for longer stays. Jordan is malaria free, so no antimalarials are needed. Aqua Travel Clinic in West Hampstead can cover everything you need in one short appointment.
Hepatitis A for Jordan
Hepatitis A is spread through contaminated food and water. Common across the Middle East, it is the most important vaccine for Jordan trips. One dose protects for around 12 months; a second dose six months later gives 25 years of cover.
Typhoid for Jordan
Typhoid is also food and water borne. Recommended for all Jordan travel, particularly if you plan to eat street food, stay in budget hotels, or visit family. A single injection protects for around 3 years.
Combined Hep A and Typhoid (Viatim)
If you want to keep it to a single injection, Viatim combines Hep A and Typhoid in one shot. Useful if you are short on time before departure.
Hepatitis B for higher risk travel
Hepatitis B is recommended for longer stays, repeat business travel, healthcare workers, and anyone considering tattoos, piercings or medical or dental procedures abroad. The standard course is three doses; accelerated schedules are available.
Practical advice for Jordan
Wadi Rum is hot and dry in summer; pack high SPF and rehydration sachets. The Dead Sea is over 400 metres below sea level and the salt content can sting open cuts and eyes, so avoid shaving the day before swimming. Petra involves a lot of walking; sturdy shoes and water are essential.
Onward travel
Many Jordan itineraries continue to Egypt or Israel. Hep A and Typhoid cover both; if you are heading on safari in Africa afterwards, you may also need Yellow Fever and Rabies. We will plan the full itinerary in one consultation.
