Standard for food/water hygiene. Available as separate vaccines or combined Viatim in one injection. Hep A covers 12 months from one dose (25 years with booster); Typhoid protects around 3 years.
Rabies (where indicated)
Recommended for rural stays, long trips, cyclists, backpackers, children, VFR travel and anyone likely to have close animal contact. Three-dose pre-exposure schedule on days 0, 7 and 21-28 (UK Green Book). Pharmacies cannot administer post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) - if bitten or scratched abroad, wash the wound thoroughly and go straight to A&E, NHS 111 or a local hospital.
Tetanus / Diphtheria / Polio (Td/IPV) booster
A 10-year booster is standard for travel. Also covers the Polio certificate requirement where relevant.
Malaria prescription + bite avoidance

Japanese Encephalitis

Hepatitis B
Three-dose course (0, 1, 6 months) recommended for longer stays, medical or dental procedures, tattoos, piercings and new sexual partners abroad. An accelerated schedule is available for shorter lead times.
Tuberculosis (BCG)
Considered for long-stay work in healthcare, community immersion and family travel with young children in higher-risk regions of Laos. Reviewed at consultation.
Polio certificate
A Polio certificate can be required if you stay in Laos for more than four weeks. The 10-year Td/IPV booster covers this requirement.
Malaria
Malaria risk varies by region in Laos. We check your itinerary against NaTHNaC and either prescribe atovaquone/proguanil, doxycycline or mefloquine for higher-risk areas, or confirm you do not need cover. Bite avoidance advice (DEET, long sleeves at dawn and dusk) is included.
