The Maldives is among the lowest risk long-haul destinations our travellers visit. Most trips are 7 to 14 day stays in private resorts on individual islands, with limited contact with local population centres outside Malé. As a result, the standard vaccine pack is short.
NaTHNaC recommends Hepatitis A for most travellers and Typhoid for anyone planning to spend time off resort, on local islands, or eating street food in Malé. The Maldives is malaria free. Yellow Fever is only required for entry if you are arriving from a Yellow Fever risk country (relevant if you are combining the Maldives with East Africa).
Aqua Travel Clinic in West Hampstead is operated by Aqua Pharmacy (GPhC-registered premises 1123406, owned by Naspram Pharma Limited) under Superintendent Pharmacist Sanjay Mukundkumar Patel (GPhC 2045157). Most Maldives travellers are sorted in a single short appointment, often combined with practical advice on sun, hydration and diving and snorkelling safety.

Travel vaccines for the Maldives at a glance
The Maldives is among the lowest risk long-haul destinations for resort travellers. NaTHNaC recommends Hepatitis A for most travellers and Typhoid for anyone leaving the resort. The Maldives is malaria free, and Yellow Fever is only required if you are arriving from a YF risk country.
Hepatitis A for Maldives travel
Hepatitis A is recommended for most travellers because food and water supply chains, even in luxury resorts, are not always traceable. One dose protects for around 12 months; a booster six months later gives 25 years of cover.
Typhoid for Maldives travel
Typhoid risk on resort islands is very low. NaTHNaC recommends it if you plan to spend time on local islands, eat street food in Malé, or stay with local families. A single injection protects for around 3 years.
Yellow Fever and onward travel
Yellow Fever is not a risk in the Maldives itself. It is only required for entry if you are arriving from a YF risk country, for example combining the Maldives with East Africa. If you are heading on to Sri Lanka or India, no additional entry vaccines are required from the UK.
Practical advice for resort travel
Sun and dehydration are the main practical risks. Pack high SPF, rehydration sachets, and reef safe sunscreen for snorkelling. Watch for jellyfish stings and minor coral cuts, which can become infected quickly in warm water. Resort medical facilities are usually basic; serious cases are evacuated by sea plane.
