The United Arab Emirates is one of the busiest long-haul routes from London: Dubai and Abu Dhabi pull in business travellers, families on stopovers en route to Asia or Australia, and a steady flow of leisure visitors. The UAE has excellent medical infrastructure and is generally low risk, but NaTHNaC still recommends Hepatitis A and Typhoid for most travellers, with Hepatitis B for longer stays, business trips with medical exposure, or anyone considering tattoos or cosmetic procedures.
The UAE is also a major transit hub for Umrah and Hajj pilgrims passing through to Saudi Arabia. If your itinerary continues to Jeddah or Madinah, you will need a Meningitis ACWY (Quadrivalent) certificate at the Saudi border, which we can also provide.
Aqua Travel Clinic in West Hampstead serves a strong South Asian and Middle Eastern catchment across Kilburn, Cricklewood and St Johns Wood, with many regular Dubai and Abu Dhabi business travellers. The clinic is operated by Aqua Pharmacy (GPhC-registered premises 1123406, owned by Naspram Pharma Limited) under Superintendent Pharmacist Sanjay Mukundkumar Patel (GPhC 2045157). Most travellers are fully covered in a single 15-minute appointment.

Travel vaccines for the UAE at a glance
The UAE is low risk for most serious travel illnesses but NaTHNaC still recommends Hepatitis A and Typhoid for most travellers, with Hepatitis B for longer stays, business travel or anyone planning medical or cosmetic procedures. Aqua Travel Clinic in West Hampstead can cover all of these in a single appointment.
Hepatitis A for UAE travel
Hepatitis A is spread through contaminated food and water. Even in five star Dubai and Abu Dhabi hotels, NaTHNaC recommends vaccination because of unknown supply chains and travel onwards in the region. One dose protects for around 12 months, two doses six months apart give 25 years of protection.
Typhoid for UAE travel
Typhoid risk in the UAE itself is low, but it is recommended if you plan to eat street food, stay with family, or travel onwards to South Asia or East Africa. A single injection protects for around 3 years.
Hepatitis B for business travel
Hepatitis B is recommended for business travellers making repeat trips, anyone staying longer than a month, healthcare workers, and anyone considering medical, dental or cosmetic procedures while in the region. The standard course is three doses; an accelerated schedule is available if you are short on time.
Connecting to Saudi Arabia
If you are travelling onwards for Umrah or Hajj, Saudi Arabia requires proof of Meningitis ACWY (Quadrivalent) vaccination at the border, given at least 10 days before arrival and valid for 5 years. We can give it on the same visit and issue your certificate.
Connecting to India or Pakistan
Many of our UAE travellers continue to Mumbai, Delhi, Karachi or Lahore. Typhoid, Hep A and Hep B remain the core pack; we can also discuss Cholera (Dukoral) and Rabies for longer family trips.
Practical advice
The UAE has strict rules on prescription medicines. Some common UK painkillers and sleep aids are controlled. We provide a written summary of safe medicines to carry, along with heat and hydration advice for the Gulf summer.
