Zimbabwe combines Victoria Falls on the Zambezi with classic safari country: Hwange National Park, Mana Pools walking and canoe safaris on the lower Zambezi, and Matobo Hills for rhino tracking. Most UK travellers fly into Vic Falls or Harare and combine Zimbabwe with Zambia, Botswana, South Africa or Namibia. Zimbabwe is not itself a Yellow Fever risk country, but a YF certificate is required if you are arriving from a YF risk country.
NaTHNaC recommends Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Hepatitis B and Rabies for most Zimbabwe itineraries, with malaria prophylaxis for almost all bush travel. Mana Pools, Hwange and the Zambezi Valley are year round malaria zones. Tap water is generally not recommended outside main towns.
Aqua Travel Clinic in West Hampstead is a NaTHNaC designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre. The clinic is operated by Aqua Pharmacy (GPhC registered premises 1123406, owned by Naspram Pharma Limited) under Superintendent Pharmacist Sanjay Mukundkumar Patel (GPhC 2045157). Most safari travellers leave with everything they need in a single 15 minute appointment.

Travel vaccines for Zimbabwe at a glance
Zimbabwe is not a Yellow Fever risk country, but a valid YF certificate is required if you are arriving from a YF risk country (including Zambia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda or Tanzania). NaTHNaC recommends Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Hepatitis B and Rabies for most travellers, with malaria prophylaxis for almost all bush travel. Aqua Travel Clinic in West Hampstead is a NaTHNaC designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre.
Hepatitis A and Typhoid
Both are standard for Zimbabwe travel and can be given together as Viatim (one injection) or separately. Hep A protects for around 12 months from a single dose (25 years with a booster); Typhoid protects for around 3 years.
Hepatitis B
Recommended for longer stays, adventure activities such as bungee or whitewater rafting at Vic Falls, and travellers who may need medical or dental care abroad. The accelerated three dose schedule (days 0, 7 and 21) is usually possible if you have a few weeks before travel.
Rabies
Recommended for Mana Pools walking safaris, Matobo rhino tracking and anyone staying in remote camps more than 24 hours from post exposure treatment. Zimbabwe has bats, stray dogs and jackals in some areas. Two doses on days 0 and 7.
Malaria in Zimbabwe
Malaria is year round in low altitude areas including the Zambezi Valley (Vic Falls, Mana Pools, Lake Kariba) and Hwange, and seasonal (November to June) in southern and eastern Zimbabwe. Harare and the central highveld above 1,200m are generally low risk. The pharmacist prescribes the right antimalarial based on your itinerary, plus written advice on bite avoidance for sunset drives and dawn walks.
Yellow Fever transit and certificates
If you are routing through a YF risk country such as Kenya, Ethiopia, Zambia or Rwanda, Zimbabwe border control will ask for your ICVP. Aqua is a NaTHNaC designated YF centre and can vaccinate and certify in the same appointment. Book your Zimbabwe travel vaccines online.
