Hep A and Typhoid (Viatim) vaccine at a glance

The ViATIM Hep A + Typhoid protects against hep a and typhoid. The Aqua protocol is one Viatim injection for both Hep A and Typhoid, plus a Hep A booster at 6 to 12 months, delivered by single injection into the upper arm. Full protection lasts up to 25 years of Hep A cover and about three years of typhoid cover.

Viatim contains a full first Hep A dose plus a full Typhoid dose. You still need a Hep A booster at 6 to 12 months for long-term Hep A cover.

The Aqua protocol

Every appointment starts with a short pharmacist-led review of your itinerary, medical history and current medication. If the vaccine is right for you we give one Viatim injection for both Hep A and Typhoid, plus a Hep A booster at 6 to 12 months in-clinic, at 59 Mill Lane, one minute from West Hampstead station.

Side effects and contraindications

A sore arm and a mild headache for a day or two are the usual effects.

Not given to anyone with a confirmed severe allergy to a previous dose. Postpone if you have a fever. Viatim is licensed from 16 years old. For younger children we give Hepatitis A and Typhoid as separate age-appropriate injections.
