Tetanus, Polio, Diptheria (3 in 1) vaccine is given to teenagers at 14 years of age. This vaccine works by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies against these three organisms, without actually causing the diseases.
Tetanus
Tetanus is a serious disease of the central nervous system that is caused by bacteria that is found in soil as well as from animal bites and licks. The disease is spread through open cuts and wounds that have been contaminated with infected soil.
Prevention
Tetanus, Polio, Diptheria is preventable by having a 3 in 1 booster vaccination. The vaccination will last up to 10 years.
