Any adult who has not had a tetanus, diphtheria or polio booster in the last 10 years, and travellers heading anywhere with reduced access to sterile wound care.

NaTHNaC 2026 currently lists tetanus and polio for travellers to countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Africa and Thailand. This vaccine is not needed for every trip: our pharmacist reviews your itinerary before recommending it.

The Aqua protocol

Every appointment starts with a short pharmacist-led review of your itinerary, medical history and current medication. If the vaccine is right for you we give one Td/IPV booster in-clinic, at 59 Mill Lane, one minute from West Hampstead station.

Side effects and contraindications

A sore arm for one or two days is the most common effect. Mild fatigue or a low-grade headache can occur. Serious reactions are rare.

Not given to anyone with a confirmed severe allergy to a previous dose or a component of the vaccine. Postpone if you are unwell with a fever. Children usually receive tetanus, diphtheria and polio through the NHS childhood immunisation schedule. Boosters for older children and teens are available at Aqua.
